Our screen work encompasses a broad spectrum of stunt performance, including burns, wirework and a wide array of fight choreography, ranging from a slap across the face to full blown battle sequences.
We have a strong reputation throughout the UK Independent Film Industry and have been fortunate enough to collaborate on a number of highly successful titles (Raging Grace - Winner: Grand Jury Prize for Best Film in Competition - SXSW). We pride ourselves on offering creative and dynamic solutions for production companies, producing a high calibre of action content whilst working within the strictures of schedule and budget.
Lucky 13 enjoy a longstanding working relationship with Director Rob Savage. Having coordinated on several of his shorts and television pilots, we created the stunt sequences for Savage's 2020 breakout pandemic horror feature 'Host’, a title that is still recognised as one of the most original and frightening films of the 21st Century (Empire). We returned once more to work with Rob on his next feature 'Dashcam' for Blumhouse, which garnered further critical success.
In 2024/25 Lucky 13 will be working closely with ANIMA Entertainment in its drive to promote and support genre filmmakers within the independent UK film industry.
Lucky 13 have coordinated on productions for SKY, BBC and Channel 4, most recently as resident stunt coordinators for the much anticipated return of Waterloo Road to the BBC between 2021 and 2023.
In addition, we are proud to maintain a reputation for providing excellent action design across multiple promos for artists including KSI, Sidemen & Run the Jewels.
Our work within virtual media and the UK games industry is extensive, encompassing specialist provision for cinematics, gameplay, animation reference and even developer training. Lucky 13 have significant experience working hand in hand with external capture spaces including Centroid 3D, Audiomotion and Imaginarium Studios. We are adept at operating both externally with clients or directly in house with developers to provide a fully bespoke service that achieves their requirements, regardless of creative scope or technical complexity.
Whether it be a cinematic trailer, animated short, game cutscene or interactive cinematic, we have the experience, tools and knowledge required to deliver kinetic, narratively driven action content that fully inhabits and enhances any world you are aiming to create. Our client base in this regard includes many of the leading names in virtual production, from BAFTA winning developers to Oscar winning VFX Supervisors and we are proud to have contributed to some of the best loved IPs in the industry.
We offer a custom service from initial consultation to final shoot based on your requirements and needs, ranging from full choreography, action design and direction to simple reference ideation and exploration as an animation aid. We are as adept at leading these processes as we are at slotting in beneath Cinematics, Performance or Animation Directors, ensuring you have the advice you need whilst maintaining the control you want at any given time.
Gameplay requirements inevitably vary from client to client. Our extensive experience working hand in hand with Animation and Design departments across locomotion, environment, and combat content ensures we can meet any challenge. Whether you need free-running locomotion sets, dance cards, core player and enemy combat design, or a comprehensive background action library, we have the tools, performers, and expertise to help you push boundaries during the shooting process — all while maintaining the highest safety standards.
For those looking to break free from the constraints of the capture floor, our rigging services offer bespoke solutions. From mountainous rock faces that adapt to each contour of your environment to Viking longships that roll, pitch, and yaw, we execute each build in conjunction with capture staff to maximise performance fidelity and minimise data occlusion. We can even take your project off the ground entirely, harnessing performers to swim, walk up walls, levitate and fly.
We understand that accurate, nuanced character movement within animation can be critical when creating immersive experiences. However, the specific requirements, style, and aesthetic of a project may not always warrant a commitment to external studio hire for full performance capture. Our reference shoot services are tailored to offer support in these circumstances.
Whether you need percussive combat sequences, unnerving creature work, or complex environmental interactions, we can provide performers with a wealth of experience in a vast array of physical disciplines - from traditional martial practices to modern weapon systems, animal work to parkour and tricking.
Reference shoots offer flexibility, can be conducted nationwide in any suitable venue local to your studio, and, like all our services, are completely bespoke to your needs and requirements - from initial planning through to execution. And as always, our commitment to safety and fidelity ensures that you can push creative and physical boundaries with confidence, gaining kinetic, nuanced footage to compliment even the most ambitious animation content.
In addition to our animation reference workshops, we offer in house developer training tailored to your content needs. Introducing teams to the key safety and performance principles of action design can create a foundation of understanding to facilitate safe, independent exploration of these concepts within the animation process, saving hours of scrolling for reference. From historical weaponry to gun handling, creature movement to spell casting we can aid you in building a physical language for any project and leave you with the tools and knowledge to create with confidence whilst maintaining and promoting safe practice at all times.
